
The Griffins men’s and women’s ski team placed fourth and third in alpine events at the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association Championships at the Bridger Bowl Resort Friday and Saturday.
The women’s teams finished third with 76 points, and the men finished fourth with 70.5 in the giant slalom. Overall, three athletes on the women’s team recorded top-10 times along with two athletes on the men’s team.
First-year student Julia Toiviainen finished fourth, which is her third finish in the top five this season, with a time of 1:57.09s. First-year Lana Zbasnik finished in ninth in 1:57.58s and Henriette Resen finished ninth in 1:57.67s.
Toivianen and Zabasnik recorded the third and fifth fastest times in the first run. Resen posted the overall fastest time, 55.57, in the second run.
Junior Juliette Gauthier finished 25th overall (2:00.76) to round out the team’s finishes.
First-year Alexandre Coltier finished in fifth place, with a final time of 1:54.24. It was his first top-five finish of the season.
First-year Joachim Mjelde came in ninth place with a time of 1:54.64s. Mjelde’s second run time of 53.63 was the day’s second fastest.
Mikkel Solbakken came in 11th overall (1:54.87) with Mikkel Wahl finishing 17th (1:55.48).
